Una vez m\u00e1s es gracias al director mexicano Alfonso Cuar\u00f3n y su cautivadora cinta Roma. Por el momento, acumula 132 premios y reconocimentos internacionales, entre ellos, dos globos de oro a Mejor Director y Mejor Pel\u00edcula de Habla No Inglesa, adem\u00e1s de otras 140 nominaciones.<\/p>\n<p>Todo apunta a que estamos ante un film con una alta probabilidad de coprotagonizar la gala de los Oscars alz\u00e1ndose con alguna de las codiciadas estatuillas. De hecho, desde ayer se sabe que est\u00e1 nominada a 10 Oscars. Pero, \u00bfqu\u00e9 es tan especial sobre esta pel\u00edcula?<\/p>\n<p>A pesar de que el nombre parece hacer referencia a la capital italiana, Roma en realidad hace alusi\u00f3n al barrio en el que el propio Cuar\u00f3n se cri\u00f3. De hecho, \u00e9l mismo ha comentado que se bas\u00f3 en su propia infancia para dirigirla haciendo de Roma su pel\u00edcula m\u00e1s \u00edntima hasta la fecha.<\/p>\n<p>Durante el largometraje, rodado en blanco y negro, se observan continuamente las diferencias entre clases a trav\u00e9s de la vida de una familia de clase media-alta y Cleo, una empleada dom\u00e9stica de rasgos ind\u00edgenas y or\u00edgenes mucho m\u00e1s humildes encargada tanto del cuidado de la casa como del bienestar de los ni\u00f1os. Las vivencias y problemas a los que se enfrentan los personajes se entremezclan a la perfecci\u00f3n con los acontecimientos ocurridos en el M\u00e9xico de principios de los 70, regalando al mismo tiempo al espectador, la oportunidad de conocer alguno de los momentos m\u00e1s memorables de aquella \u00e9poca.<\/p>\n<p>Al estar rodada en espa\u00f1ol, est\u00e1 nominada en la categor\u00eda de Mejor Pel\u00edcula de Habla No Inglesa. Sin embargo, tambi\u00e9n lo est\u00e1 en la categor\u00eda de Mejor Pel\u00edcula, por lo que de obtener ambos premios pasar\u00eda a la historia como la primera pel\u00edcula en conseguirlo. It has already been awarded and recognised worldwide 132 times, with two Golden Globes for Best Director and Best Foreign Language Film among others, along with more than 140 nominations.<\/p>\n<p>Roma appears to be a strong contender for some of the most coveted statuettes on the night of the Oscars. In fact, yesterday we learnt it has been nominated in 10 different categories. But what is so special about this film?<\/p>\n<p>Although the name seems to refer to the Italian capital city, Roma is actually the name of the neighbourhood where Cuar\u00f3n was born and raised. He has even stated having based the story on his own childhood, making Roma his most private and autobiographical film so far.<\/p>\n<p>The movie, filmed in black and white, examines social differences through the life of an upper middle-class family and the eyes of Cleo, an indigenous Mexican maid with a more humble upbringing responsible for the house and the children\u2019s wellbeing. The problems and experiences faced by the characters are set against the backdrop of some of the most memorable events that took place in the early 70\u2019s, letting the viewer learn more about Mexican history.<\/p>\n<p>Having been filmed in Spanish, Roma is nominated for Best Motion Picture in a Foreign Language. However, it has also been nominated for Best Motion Picture, potentially breaking records if it ends up winning both awards.
