The night of San Juan<\/h3>\r\n
\r\n\r\nOn June 23rd, the well-known feast of St. John will be celebrated, there are many countries where this day is special and an excuse for celebration. In this post we will explain its origin and how it is currently celebrated.<\/p>\r\n
\r\n\r\nIt is said that the feast of St. John has a pagan origin. Many civilizations celebrated the worship of the Sun and the Earth during the summer solstice. Legend has it that the Sun was in love with the Earth, so it refused to leave it.<\/p>\r\n
\r\n\r\nAt the same time during the night of San Juan, being the shortest night of the year, the ancient societies like the Celts, believed that it was the perfect moment to chase away the bad spirits and bad luck.\u00a0 Also, making wishes, attracting love and fertility<\/p>\r\n
\r\n\r\nAnother theory suggests that the inhabitants of the northern hemisphere lit fires during the night of San Juan to feed the sun and thus prevent it from going away. Because from that night on, the nights would be shorter and shorter.<\/p>\r\n
