Me preguntan constantemente por el sentido que tiene dedicarse al \u201cespa\u00f1ol en Asia\u201d, cuando hay otras regiones con mucho m\u00e1s v\u00ednculo a nuestra cultura, idioma y a todo lo hispanoamericano en general. Por lo tanto, el mercado es potencialmente mucho mayor en Occidente, aunque tambi\u00e9n m\u00e1s competitivo.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Pero lo cierto es que encontramos cada vez m\u00e1s proyecci\u00f3n del espa\u00f1ol en Asia, no s\u00f3lo entre adultos, nuestro segmento de edad habitual, sino sobre todo entre los m\u00e1s peque\u00f1os. Os doy algunos datos de asignatura curricular en colegios locales en nuestros 3 mercados:<\/p>\r\n

  • en el colegio Sri Bestari, en Kuala Lumpur, tenemos 190 alumnos de clase de espa\u00f1ol, reci\u00e9n iniciado el programa.<\/li>\r\n
  • en St Joseph Institution en Singapur hemos pasado este a\u00f1o de 1 a 3 grupos de Spanish IB Ab Initio. Y en Nanyang, otro \u201cgifted school\u201d, mandaremos 6 profesores cada semana el segundo trimestre, en nuestro tercer a\u00f1o dando clase a sus alumnos de Primaria.<\/li>\r\n
  • en CAMOES, en Hong Kong, que es mi colegio favorito de todos los que conozco, locales e internacionales, en Asia, damos a toda la Primaria, 300 alumnos, 2 horas de clase semanales. En CAMOES, cada vez que entro por la puerta (y cualquier persona), todos los ni\u00f1os con los que tengo contacto visual me saludan siempre, con la mezcla perfecta de simpat\u00eda y respeto, como d\u00e1ndome la bienvenida. He ido decenas de veces al colegio, y no deja de impresionarme.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n

    En Asia hay un gran arraigo por aprender y formarse, todos los coles y padres locales nos piden m\u00e1s herramientas, m\u00e1s horas, siguen de cerca a sus hijos, los colegios no escatiman gastos a la hora de comprar material. Es, realmente, la prioridad de la sociedad.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

    El espa\u00f1ol es una de las lenguas m\u00e1s importantes del mundo. Es una s\u00f3lida herramienta para el futuro profesional de cualquiera. Pero es adem\u00e1s, una puerta a una cultura milenaria, \u00fanica en su riqueza e incomparable en su modo de entender la vida. En Asia, la \u00a8cuanto m\u00e1s profunda posible, mejor\u201d formaci\u00f3n de sus j\u00f3venes es un claro valor de la sociedad. Para m\u00ed, el \u00fanico escenario es que el aprendizaje del espa\u00f1ol crezca exponencialmente en esta regi\u00f3n del mundo, la m\u00e1s grande y con el 60% de la poblaci\u00f3n mundial.<\/p>\r\n

    I get constantly asked whether it \u201cmakes sense\u201d to devote your working life to the promotion of Spanish language in Asia, when there are many other regions with a stronger bond to our culture, language and anything \u201clatino\u201d, in general. The market is much bigger in Western society, of course, although it is also more competitive.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

    Truth that we constantly see the adoption of Spanish growing in Asia, not only among adults, still our core learner segment, but also among the little ones. I\u00b4ll give you 3 pieces of data, of local schools in our 3 markets, where we teach Spanish in the curriculum:<\/p>\r\n

      \r\n
    • In Sri Bestari, in Kuala Lumpur, we have 190 students of Spanish class, when the program has just begun.<\/li>\r\n
    • In St Joseph Institution, in Singapore, we have increased the number of groups of Spanish IB Ab Initio from 1 to 3. In Nanyang, another \u201cgifted school\u201d we will send 6 teachers for the second term, in our 3rd<\/sup> year teaching Spanish to their Primary students.<\/li>\r\n
    • In CAMOES, in Hong Kong, my favourite school, local or international, in Asia, we teach the 6 grades of Primary, 300 students, 2 hours weekly class. In CAMOES, every time I go (and anyone), every child that I meet on my way and make eye contact with, greets with a perfect mix of kindness and respect, as if they were welcoming me. I\u00b4ve been dozen of times to the school, but it still impresses me.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n

      The willingness to learn and train themselves is embedded in Asian culture. Every school, every parent asks us for more tools, more hours, they do a thorough follow up on their children\u00b4s advancements, schools are willing to spend whatever necessary in learning materials. It really is the priority of society.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

      Spanish is one of the most important languages in the world. It is a powerful tool in anyone\u00b4s working life. But it is also a door to an ancient culture, unique in its diversity and way of life. In Asia, one of the strongest values of its people is to provide the best possible training to their youth. To me, the only possible scenario is that the learning of Spanish Langue grows exponentially in this region of the world, the biggest and where 60% of world population live.<\/p>\r\n
