¿Por qué el éxito de Parasite nos beneficia a todos?
Por si aún queda algún despistado que no ha oído hablar de Parasite o no conoce el éxito que ha cosechado, se trata de una película surcoreana que ha sido reconocida internacionalmente de mil y una formas, entre ellas con 4 Oscars.
La cinta del director Bong Joon Ho ha hecho historia siendo la primera película de habla no inglesa que ha ganado las dos categorías al mismo tiempo: mejor película y mejor película de habla no inglesa.
El año pasado fue la película mexicana Roma la que casi consigue ser la primera película de la historia en hacerlo, aunque finalmente solo se hizo con la categoría extranjera. Sin embargo, consiguió hacernos sospechar de una nueva tendencia hacia otros mercados, otro tipo de películas, otras culturas y otras formas de hacer cine. Y, por supuesto, también otros idiomas.
Es por este motivo, que además de ganar en términos cinematográficos gracias a esta apertura al mundo, también los idiomas se ven beneficiados, entre ellos el español. Representado por 21 países ofrece una variedad y calidad que ha sido reconocida a lo largo de los años en la simbólica gala de los Oscars.
En los últimos 20 años, 14 han sido las películas de habla hispana nominadas a mejor película de habla no inglesa. De esas 14, cuatro películas en total se alzaron con la estatuilla. Aquí tienes una lista con todas ellas:

Why does the success of Parasite benefit us all?
In case there is still someone who has never heard of Parasite or not know about its success, it is a South Korean film that has won many awards worldwide, chief among them four Oscars.
Bong Joon-ho’s film made cinema history by being the first non-English film to win two of the most prestigious categories at the same time: Best Picture and Best International Feature Film.
It was only last year when the Mexican film, Roma, won the Best Foreign Language Film category, falling short of getting both statuettes as Parasite eventually did. However, this landmark win made many wonder if there is a new trend towards other markets, other genres of films, other cultures, and other ways of making films. And, of course, other languages, too.
In addition to winning on cinematic terms, the world stands to benefit from this growing acceptance towards foreign-language films, Spanish among them. Represented by 21 countries, Spanish films offer a variety and quality that have been recognized throughout the years at the iconic Oscar night.
In the last two decades, 14 Spanish-language films have been nominated for the Best International Feature Film. Among them, four got the coveted statuette. Here is a list of the contenders and winners:

It is also a very effective way to learn and practise the Spanish language while better understanding the nuances of the language of the country each film represents.
