Spanish for Exams

Spanish Exams

Over the years, Spanish World Malaysia has been preparing students for different Official Spanish Exams. A wide range of examination preparation courses are provided in groups and for those choosing private tuition.
Helping our students getting the right results is our goal.

SIELE

We are the onlyexamination centre in Malaysia for Servicio Internacional de Evaluación de la Lengua Española (SIELE). SIELE is the most comprehensive, versatile and prestigious system for assessing and certifying Spanish language proficiency. It is an International Assessment Service for the Spanish Language promoted by the Instituto Cervantes, the Universidad Autónoma de México, the Universidad de Salamanca and the Universidad de Buenos Aires

Exams are held throughout the year, upon confirmation of registration. For inscription, you should drop by our school and provide us with any form of identification (exp. Passport or ID).

DELE – Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language

Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE) are official titles certifying a degree of competence and mastery of the Spanish language, issued by the Spanish Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science to participants who have passed a standardised test indicating their level Spanish language proficiency.

DELE diplomas are internationally recognised among public and private educational institutions and authorities as well as in the business world and chambers of commerce and provide sufficient accreditation towards the exercise of any professional or academic activity in Spain.

DELE exams are divided into 6 different levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2, with C2 being the highest DELE Diplomas and are valid indefinitely.

IGCSE Spanish

This is a UK based exam usually taken by students at the age of 15.

Students in Malaysia can take the Spanish IGCSE exam every year in May-June and there is no age limit to take this exam as a private candidate. Registration for any May date is usually in November or early December of the previous year. Please be alert!

The IGCSE Spanish exam is roughly equivalent to DELE A2 level. It usually takes around 230 hours of study to be ready for a Spanish IGCSE exam. We usually recommend students aged 10 to 12 to first study IGCSE and then once finished IGCSE (at the age of 15-16) study for DELE A2 and later DELE B1 Level. For those students aged 13 or 14 who are total beginners or almost total beginners, if they want to take the IGCSE exam they will need to study more intensively as it usually takes 3.5 to 4 years of study.

For any student who has studied some Spanish before but doesn’t know his or her level we can conduct a free placement test in order to give the student a plan of what would be necessary for him or her to achieve a satisfactory result in IGCSE.

IB Spanish – International Baccalaureate

Ab Initio

IB Spanish Ab Initio is a great Spanish language foundation program. If you are studying Ab Initio at your school, we can help you get the right results in the exam.

Although there are differences, Ab Initio is close to the A2 level as laid out by the Cervantes Institute, and both try to follow a more communicative approach where communicative competence is centre stage.

The environment, education, town and services, speaking and cultural awareness are some of the key topics covered in Spanish Ab Initio.

Contact us for a placement test with our academic coordinator for further assessment and planning.

Language B

IB Language B is a challenging exam and program. If you are studying Language B at your school, we can help you get the right results in the exam.

At least 2 or 3 years of Spanish learning is necessary prior to starting Spanish Language B and getting ready for the exam might take a few years more. Although not completely equivalent, it is close to the B2 level as laid out by the Cervantes Institute, somewhere between B1 and B2. Both try to follow a more communicative approach where communicative competence is centre stage.

Cultural and historical events, immigration, art and films are some of the key topics covered in Spanish Language B.
